On Thursday, March 8th The St Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture held a Speed Consulting Forum and Pitch Training session in preparation for the preliminary round of The Get In The Ring competition. This year saw an increase in the number of startups visiting the Get In The Ring event page with 14 completing the application process. Participants were required to present their ideas/ startup before a panel to receive feedback and advice and returned to the Union Orchid Farm on Thursday 14th March 2019 where the six finalists were selected to advance to the Final battle.

Following intense training and a packed program the following startups squared off and battled their way to the grand showdown on March 28th 2019 at the Caribbean Cinemas from 4:00 pm: Mr. Gilland Avril of Ngage, Caleb Jallim of Fleek It, Amy Antoine of T & A Household Décor, Sherman Sidonie of Saveur St Lucia, Vernon Jean – Easy Click Solutions and Martin Hanna of Penny Pinch. 

‘Get in the Ring” is a global startup pitching competition that challenges teams from around the world in a fast-paced match, held in a boxing ring. The competition specifically targets start-ups (0-8 years) that are scalable and innovative and is poised to be staged as a made for TV production, showcasing the talent and economic viability of the participants. No cash prize will be given to participants; however, the winner will receive an all-expense paid trip to Berlin in June 2019 for the Global Meetup.

The Get in the Ring Foundation is an organization that gives startups a fun and global podium to make valuable connections to start, grow and scale up their business.  The event is known for its innovative format where startups literally face off in a boxing ring. A battle between 2 startups consists of 5 30-second rounds about the team, achievements, business model & market, financials & proposition and freestyle. The Get In Ring St. Lucia seeks to focus on the holistic development of entrepreneurs and as such compiled an intense yet impactful program for participants.
