GEW Compass Award Ceremony in Algeria

The Algerian Ministry of Industry organized Monday, February 20, 2023, at the Ministry's headquarters, the GEW Compass Awards Ceremony to honor the states that won first three places in terms of number of activities carried out in the 12th edition of Global Entrepreneurship Week taking place during November 2022. The ceremony was supervised by the General Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Mr. Salah El-Din Belbrik, representing the Minister of Industry, Mr. Ahmed Zagdar, and hosted, as well as GEN Algeria and executives from the Ministry: Mr. Jonathan Ortmans, Head of the Global Entrepreneurship Network, who gave a poignant online speech, congratulating Algeria for its hard work, and encouraging more.

The number of activities organized by Algeria amounted to 2,137 activities, followed by the United States of America with 1,046 activities and Spain with 531 activities. As on the national level, the Directorate of Industry in the state of Tipaza won first place with a whopping 907 activities, equivalent to 42.44% of the total activities organized nationally, followed, respectively, by the state of Biskra with 862 activities (40.33% of activities) and Oran with 72 activities (3.36% of activities).

These stimulating results were announced on GEN's global online platform, genglobal.org, and allowed Algeria to be invited to the Global Entrepreneurship Congress, taking place in September of 2023 in Australia.

In a speech delivered by the Secretary-General of the Ministry, on behalf of the Minister of Industry, he emphasized that this event is an appreciation and promotion of Algeria's experience achieved in the field of entrepreneurship, referring to its constant desire to be present in various international forums through the seizure of advanced awards in the field of entrepreneurship and the establishment of institutions. This event is considered a real space and an appropriate framework to encourage the dissemination of entrepreneurial culture in countries of the world, including Algeria, which participates through its membership in the global entrepreneurial network in Algeria (Global Entrepreneurship Network Algeria - GEN Algeria).

GEN Algeria's General Manager, Mrs.Fatiha Rachedi gave a speech as well, reflecting on the organization's history, highlights and successful journey throughout the years, showcasing just how promising the Algerian entrepreneurial ecosystem was, and how much it still has to offer.

These encouraging results showed a positive and clear picture of the dynamism that characterizes the world of entrepreneurship in Algeria through the support of public authorities, and gave everyone a sense of responsibility to improve, and engrave Algeria's name as one of the leading countries in the field of entrepreneurship.
