Workshop on Intellectual Property Essentials for Startup Projects

As part of its commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and ensuring the protection of entrepreneurial ideas, the Business Incubator organized an online training workshop titled:
“Intellectual Property Fundamentals for Startup Projects.”
The session was delivered via Google Meet by Dr. Maysoum Maryem, a specialist in intellectual property and innovation management.

The workshop brought together members of the Incubator’s scientific committee as well as students developing project ideas, with the goal of providing them with the foundational tools needed to secure their innovations.

During the session, participants explored several essential themes, including:

  • The concept and categories of intellectual property: patents, trademarks, copyrights, industrial designs, and more
  • Methods to protect ideas from misuse, imitation, and unauthorized exploitation
  • Step-by-step guidance on patent and trademark registration procedures in Algeria
  • Common pitfalls entrepreneurs encounter when launching new products or services
  • Real case examples illustrating the impact of proper IP protection on project success

Interactive discussions allowed students to receive direct advice on how to legally safeguard their project rights within the incubator’s framework.

This workshop played a key role in raising awareness of the strategic importance of intellectual property—an essential step for any startup preparing to enter the market, seek funding, or pursue incubation opportunities.
