Algeria Honored for its Visionary Entrepreneurial Policies at GEC Indiana 2025

Algeria's participation in the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) in Indiana in June 2025, rewarded for with the "Champion of Entrepreneurial Policies" award in acknowledgment of its sustained efforts to create an enabling environment for startups and innovation.

From June 2 to 5 2025, Global Gntrepreneurship Network (GEN) in collaboration with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, co-hosted what’s known to be the annual rendez-vous of the most influential figures in entrepreneurship. 

The Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) convenes each year the world’s most dedicated ecosystem builders in what’s widely recognized to be the world’s largest and most impactful gathering of its kind.

Taking place in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, this year’s event welcomed attendees from over 180 countries, for four days of collaboration and renewed global commitments for entrepreneurship under the theme “the Bold Change the World”.

Throughout the Congress, sub-ministerial sessions provided a unique opportunity for ministers and experts to engage in targeted discussions on these central themes, sharing best practices and policy insights.

Represented by the Minister of Knowledge, Economy, Startups and Micro-Entreprises, Mr. Noureddine Ouadah,  along with Mr. Yacine Oualid, former minister of trainings and vocational education , Algeria took part in the Ministerial Conference, where the country’s leading role in shaping Africa’s innovation landscape was strongly emphasized.

During his intervention, Mr. Noureddine Ouadah presented an overview of the progress achieved within the national startup ecosystem, stressing that its construction and development are being carried out in alignment with the vision of the President of the Republic, his excellency Abdelmadjid Tebboune,  who places innovation and entrepreneurship at the core of sustainable economic development.

He further highlighted the accelerated dynamic of the African startup ecosystem, underlining Algeria’s leading role as a catalyst of this growth, notably through the launch of the African Startup Conference in 2022, which was a strategic platform aimed at enhancing policy coordination across the continent and driving technological and economic advancement.

Algeria nominated champion of entrepreneurial policies 

In  acknowledgment of its sustained efforts to create an enabling environment for startups and innovation, Algeria was awarded the “Champion of Entrepreneurial Policies” prize.

This prestigious recognition celebrates governments that have made outstanding contributions to developing policies favorable to entrepreneurship and startups, with more than 50 countries competing for the distinction.

Algeria’s recognition stands as a testament to its comprehensive approach to entrepreneurship development, which combines funding mechanisms, incubation programs, mentorship networks, and progressive regulatory reforms. These efforts collectively reinforce Algeria’s commitment to nurturing creativity, resilience, and opportunity, positioning the country as a continental model in entrepreneurial policy and innovation-driven growth.

A testament to visionary leadership and youth empowerment 

In addition to the collective recognition, Mr. Noureddine Ouadah, Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-enterprises, alongside Mr. Yacine Mahdi Oualid, Former Minister of Vocational Training and Education, were both  publicly honored and received personal distinctions each, in recognition of their visionary leadership and impactful contribution to advancing entrepreneurship programs in Algeria. Their distinction emphasizes Algeria's ongoing commitment to promoting an innovation-driven economy, and encouraging of small businesses and big ideas.
