Vladimir Corda to guide GEN Bosnia and Herzegovina to strengthen international connections and implement new programs, initiatives

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Global Entrepreneurship Network has appointed Vladimir Corda as managing director of GEN Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this role, Corda is responsible for expanding collaboration among the country’s entrepreneurship ecosystem leaders and connecting them to their counterparts in more than 170 countries.

Corda said Bosnia and Herzegovina is in the early stage of ecosystem development, and that all elements of the ecosystem need improvement. He said the policy framework for entrepreneurship could be more supportive, although in the past two years the country has seen positive changes. Corda said many ecosystem actors operate mostly in isolation – and the aim of GEN Bosnia and Herzegovina is to coordinate leading actors in collaboration and ecosystem development.

“There is a number of entrepreneurship focused programs, starting from Startup Weekend, Startup Grind, Startup Live, and other different non-branded programs and events – but support to entrepreneurs ends with these programs,” said Corda. “Programs that support entrepreneurship development are, in majority, funded by foreign donors. In the last year, we have seen positive movement where private sector has been more opened to participate as entrepreneurship support programs.”

At the global level, GEN operates in more than 170 countries. It fuels healthier start and scale ecosystems by fostering deeper cross-border collaboration and initiatives that engage entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, researchers and entrepreneurship support organizations.

GEN Bosnia and Herzegovina aims to strengthen the ecosystem by focusing on:

  • Fostering collaboration between ecosystem actors in order to achieve more systematical approaches toward entrepreneurship development,
  • Advocating for policy framework improvement and introduction of government-led support programs, and
  • Organizing Global Entrepreneurship Week and other GEN programs in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Alongside his role as GEN Bosnia and Herzegovina acting managing director, Corda also runs START Center focusing on organization of programs that support micro business development.
