During Global Entrepreneurship Week this November, Routouang Mohamed Ndonga Christian, GEN Chad acting managing director, is working with partners to organize a new GEW Chad signature event – Startups and Investment Forum – in collaboration with Business Angels Week. Business Angels Week features business angels and entrepreneurs from Europe, the Middle East Business Angel Network (MBAN) and African Business Angel Network (ABAN), and takes place in alignment with Global Entrepreneurship Week. Business Angels Week is one of the largest series of events for angel investors around the world.
According to the Bank of Central African States, from 2001-2010, Chad has been among 10 countries with the highest growth rates. Chad is also among the Sub-Saharan countries that have an economic growth rate of at least 7 percent from 2011-2013. In fact, GEN Chad is looking to build off the theme “Africa: the continent of the prosperity and the future.”
Set to take place in Chad’s capital city, N’Djamena, on November 16 and 17 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, the Startups and Investments Forum will feature a two-day program packed with events focusing on promoting awareness and networking, improving access to finance and pushing for investment opportunities in Chadian startups. The Forum aims to bring together players from across Chad and the world to invest in the country’s most innovative startup ventures. The angel investors, venture capital community, government representatives and corporate partners will share best practices, lessons and a roadmap for early stage investment in the country.
The Startups and Investments Forum will be composed of investment bootcamps, conferences and roundtables showcasing the different business opportunities in Chad such as agriculture and livestock, renewable energy, fishing, tourism, fashion and style, and infrastructure. The event will close with a fundraising concert that intends to raise funds for 20 of the most innovative early-stage startups of Chad.
Along with other collaborators such as Réseau des Jeunes Pour le Développement et le Leadership au Tchad, Wenaklabs and Nirvana Organization, Global Entrepreneurship Network Chad is on track for a GEW celebration that will promote investing in the new generation of startups who are gearing toward a durable socio-economic transformation.
