Startup Huddle launched in San Salvador, El Salvador this Spring with support from Maria Luisa Hayem, the country's Minister of Economy. In a video address, Minister Hayem invited entrepreneurs and all members of the local startup ecosystem to participate.

“Startup Huddle is a program designed to help entrepreneurs, incentivizing them to propose and discover solutions to the challenges they face, together,” said Hayem in Spanish.

“This format breaks the norm of traditional presentations. The idea is that the participants learn from shared experiences and find ways to mutually support each other as a community.”

Ángel Gonzalez, founder of food startup Natural Beans, was among the first entrepreneurs to pitch at Startup Huddle San Salvador on June 26.

In her video message, Minister Hayem also acknowledged the broader work of the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) in El Salvador and encouraged entrepreneurs to apply to participate in the Entrepreneurship World Cup.

“Among the actors that contribute to the strengthening of the national innovation ecosystem is GEN, with whom we are carrying out the national championship for Entrepreneurship World Cup 2021,” said Hayem.

“This is a great opportunity to present the best startups in the country, demonstrate the entrepreneurial potential of El Salvador, share talent and innovation for overcoming challenges, and take advantage of opportunities with creativity.”

Entrepreneurship World Cup applications closed June 9 for entrepreneurs in El Salvador, with global finals being held in November 2021.
