GEN Announces Themes for Global Entrepreneurship Week 2021
Four themes will guide community organizers and partners as they plan Global Entrepreneurship Week activities in 2021.
17 Jun 2021

Global Entrepreneurship Week 2021 (November 8-14) will rally almost every nation in the world to empower their entrepreneurs and encourage their citizens to become starters - finding new and better ways of doing things. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and its unprecedented impact, GEW 2021 is also a call to action for all societies to be resilient and to come together to leverage the power of new ideas and innovation for the benefit of all.

Four themes will guide community organizers and partners as they plan GEW activities. These themes reflect the Global Entrepreneurship Network’s post-pandemic approach to entrepreneurship support and ecosystem development.

The 2021 GEW themes are:

  • Ecosystems. Activities in this category aim to inspire communities to collaborate and share their networks and markets to help rising startups thrive. This theme celebrates the shared challenges and triumphs of entrepreneurship communities and hubs around the world.

  • Education. Activities in this category shine a spotlight on partners, activities and thought leaders who are shaping the way we educate and train nascent entrepreneurs around the world.

  • Inclusion. Activities in this category highlight the work startup champions are doing around the world to minimize barriers and obstacles for entrepreneurs by maximizing inclusion. This theme celebrates diversity in all forms, including women and youth in entrepreneurship.

  • Policy: Activities in this category highlight the work of governments and policymakers to help entrepreneurs everywhere start and scale.

With GEW campaigns in more than 180 countries, the implementation of these themes will vary from region to region. Partners are encouraged to plan activities tailored to their needs and any activity supporting entrepreneurship can be part of GEW.

In the weeks and months ahead, GEN will roll out a series of articles highlighting thought leadership and success stories on each of these four themes.

This Global Entrepreneurship Week (November 8-14, 2021), thousands of organizations are hosting activities on these and other themes. If you are interested in hosting an activity but aren't sure what to do, please see our GEW Signature Activities or Ideas Bank with more than 100 ideas to inspire you.
