Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group with roughly 400 companies and a long-time supporter of Global Entrepreneurship Week, shared a message of hope and encouragement for entrepreneurs at all levels on the eve of #GEW2020.

With so many entrepreneurs struggling in 2020 due to an economic slowdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Branson urged:

"Everyone has the potential to become an entrepreneur and to create positive change in their communities," he said. "I am proud to support the Global Entrepreneurship Network... with a mission to make it possible for anyone, anywhere to start or scale a new business."

The British billionaire, easily one of the most recognizable and inspirational entrepreneurs around the world, has issued similar statements dating back to the launch of Global Entrepreneurship Week in 2008. He also served as the keynote speaker at the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in Liverpool in 2012 -- helping elevate it to its current format with thousands of delegates from 180+ countries. At the outset of Global Entrepreneurship Week in 2017, he participated in the launch of 22 on Sloane, GEN's startup campus in Johannesburg which is the largest of its kind on the African continent.
