On Monday the 16th November, the Principal Secretary for the Entrepreneurship and Industry Department (EID), Ms. Angelique Antat, was interviewed on Seychelles’ Breakfast Show - “Bonzour Sesel” to kick-off the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2020 celebrations in Seychelles.
During her interview, PS Antat briefly explained what GEW entails and went over the many activities the Department together with its partners organised for the first time as a host country.
The characteristics and importance of entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship was underlined as a means of encouraging more individuals to engage in entrepreneurial ventures in order to bring about prosperity, employment, innovation and wealth into Seychelles’ economy.
She reflected on the country's progression towards inculcating entrepreneurship within the locals. such as the publications of educational booklets for and regularly talks within Secondary and Post- Secondary Schools. She also touched upon the request that was made by the Department to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) to assist Seychelles in developing a national Entrepreneurship Strategy and to launch the renowned entrepreneurship capacity-building programme – EMPRETEC in Seychelles.
Viewers were apprised of the national Seychelles Made Brand to be launched in 2021 that will recognise products that are made in Seychelles.
PS Antat concluded her interview with the following message of encouragement “Entrepreneurs will always encounter difficulties but to overcome these inconveniences, you have to love what you do and remove all fears that may impede your progression”.
