Maker to Maker - Sharing business best practices with The Melanin Makers' Market.

Group of makers of color at a local market
Activity Description

As an artisan entrepreneur, you have to juggle many responsibilities; from perfecting your craft to balancing the books, you are in charge of the success of your business. The Melanin Makers' Market community wants to help you develop the skills you need to succeed by learning from some entrepreneurs who thrive in their businesses.

Join us to meet past Melanin Markers' Market vendors when they share the skills and experience required to raise up an artisan business.

Participants will:

  • Learn from brief 15-minute presentations on social media marketing, selecting where to sell your products and more.
  • Network with fellow artisans and creative entrepreneurs
  • Leave with take-a-ways and the chance to win exciting door prizes from the artisans!

This event is hosted by the Melanin Maker's Market and sponsored by the Golden Isles Development Authority. There is no cost to join and learn, but registration is required to help us prepare materials accordingly.

About the Melanin Makers Market

The Melanin Makers' Market is a mission-driven, for-profit business that provides a space for makers of color to bring their goods & talents to market.

The Melanin Makers' Market was conceived in the living room of one of the founders in 2019. It was founded by Arielle Lang, a visual artist, and Takiela Langley, a natural skincare product maker, out of frustration from the lack of representation of people of color in the local craft fairs and markets. The market has been bootstrapped from visualization to manifestation.

The first market was held in November 2019 in Brunswick, GA, and hosted more than 30 vendors. The Melanin Makers' Market continues to grow and spotlight local makers and businesses of color.
