Global Entrepreneurship Week is a celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare.
Celebrated during one week each November, GEW inspires people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators. Activities range from large-scale competitions and events to intimate networking gatherings, and introduce participants to possibilities and exciting opportunities.
GEW is the focal point for the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), a year-round platform of programs and initiatives aimed at creating one global entrepreneurial ecosystem.
To date, GEN has helped people in 160 countries unleash their ideas and turn them into promising new ventures—creating jobs, accelerating innovation and strengthening economic stability around the world.
GEW and GEN are still fresh to New Zealand in 2016. However, our dedicated network of volunteers is working hard behind the scenes to make this a focal point of New Zealand’s entrepreneur and startup calendar.
