64.6 Downtown in partnership with the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith (UAFS), PEAK Innovation Center and ASBTDC is hosting the 4th Annual Invest Fort Smith during Global Entrepreneurship Week.  Sessions will held in person at UAFS and via Zoom. Online participants must register for this free event to receive a Zoom link. Panel discussions are centered around education, ecosystems and inclusion under the topics listed below.

• Technology Shifts: Lessons Learned from a Global Pandemic 1pm to 2pm CST

Description: Hear from entrepreneurs who increased online presence in 2020.  Learn how they do business differently based on what they learned from optimizing their online presence during the global pandemic. Which technology approaches are here to stay, and which have been phased out?

• Facing the Future in a Family Business: Succession or Sell?  2pm to 3pm CST

Description: As family businesses mature, they encounter issues of succession and change. What do you do if the next generation is not ready or does not want to run the business?  What are the special challenges of maturing family businesses as they make decisions about the future?

• Simple Steps to Starting a Small Business in the River Valley 3pm to 4pm CST

Description: Panelists will share the processes of starting a business in Fort Smith as well as the challenges in terms of business climate, workforce, taxes, etc.

• River Valley Student Entrepreneur Pitch Competition 4pm to 5pm CST

Description: This pitch competition will feature River Valley student entrepreneurs who are ready to launch a product and/or service. The winner of the high school competition will earn a scholarship to UAFS to help develop and build their ideas.
