National Ecosystem Program

How does the program work?

Vietnam has worked to become an attractive place for venture capital funds from USA, EU, South Korea, via a dedicated national strategy.

As a result of this national strategy, hundreds of initiatives and efforts have taken place in Vietnam, such as International, National and Regional technologyequipment market (Techmart), Technology Supply and Demand Connection (TechFest), Technology Demonstration (TechDemo), STEM festival, technological exchanges, etc., helping transfer thousands of patents and the research results of the institutes and universities to enterprises.

The business incubation activity (Boot Camp, Business Accelerator, Incubator, etc.) has received positive response from research institutes, universities and startup groups.

The introduction of the "National Ecosystem Program to Promote Innovative Entrepreneurship by 2025" was a Decision (No. 844/QDTTg) of Prime Minister, dated 18th May 2016.

Notes + Additional Context

In December 2015, there were about 3000 scientific and technological enterprises among 500.000 operating enterprises in Vietnam. But while the prior decade had seen a wave of new enterprises become established, but the number of enterprises which dissolved had been high and the operating enterprises had not yet been innovative due to a lack of enabling entrepreneurship ecosystem.
