While GEN has multiple structured startup community events, GEN Meetup is designed for those who have their own format and goals in mind for gathering their community under the GEN Compass either regularly or from time to time. There are no obligations in what you do – only some basic mutual protections for using the GEN brand that you have to accept.
If you are a member of the GEN community and want to apply for a GEN Meetup license sign up using this form.

FAQs
- Do I need permission to use the GEN Meetup brand?
- Yes, but all you have to do is complete a simple on-line form and agree to the terms and conditions.
- If I sign up to organize one or more GEN Meetup events, are their rules and requirements in terms of structure and format?
- No. You may use the brand to accomplish your objective for the ecosystem in any format, structure or regularity.
- Can I get sponsors for the event? Are there any restrictions?
- Yes, you may solicit sponsorships to support your event. However, GEN cannot support your fundraising efforts, and you must make it clear to any and all potential sponsors that the request for support is coming from you and/or your organization, not from GEN (this is also addressed in the GEN Meetup brand guide). Further, we request that you notify the GEN contact in your confirmation email of any confirmed sponsors for our awareness - and potentially to support you by acknowledging them on the GEN website.
- Is there a license cost to hold a GEN Meetup event(s)?
- No. It is free to use, but we like to know how it is going and ask you to keep your GEN contact informed about your meetings.
- Can I charge people to come?
- No, unless approved in writing by GEN in advance. To submit a request, please email the GEN contact listed in your confirmation email.
- Are the any requirements?
- Your event should be organized consistent with GEN’s Code of Conduct and be inclusive and open to the community.
- GEN reserves the right to withdraw permission to use the brand if it believes it is being used inappropriately.
- Are there any communications or reporting requirements?
- While not a requirement, local organizers are encouraged to share information before and after their GEN Meetup events with their GEN contact in the confirmation email and share details on social media channels using the hashtag #GENMeetup and tagging GEN’s global social media channels. GEN hopes to see examples of GEN Meetup events and their outcomes appear in blogs on your national GEN website and social media channels.
