This is a new partnership with the first hackathon planned for June of 2016.

What lessons can be learned?

Since this partnership has just been formalized we will be monitoring the progress and will be ready to report on any challenges, criticisms and lessons for the future at the end of 2016.

Notes + Additional Context

Background of policy, in the context of country’s situation
The Kyrgyz Republic is a newcomer into the global startup scene and has historically had very low levels (none) support from any government institutions or ministries. Prior to this partnership with the Department of Tourism, all interaction with the government was either done informally or via “advisory roles” filled by community leaders in Bishkek. Until this year (2016) no policy framework was under consideration, making this partnership a big step in a positive direction for the entrepreneurial community in the Kyrgyz Republic.
