Avicenne Private Business School Celebrates GEW2017

Global Entrepreneurship Week is the world’s largest celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth, and expand human welfare. During one week each November, thousands of events and competitions around the world inspire millions to engage in entrepreneurial activity while connecting them to potential collaborators, mentors, and even investors.

Thakns to Hult Prize at APBS, and for the first time in APBS (Avicenne Private Business School), we celebrated this big and enriching event that aims to “inspire and empower” the next generation of entrepreneurs. A chance to share with the world the importance of entrepreneurship as an economic driver. Thanks to our guests who made it happen and was part of this global event, who helped us learn more about Entrepreneurship and introduced us to new possibilities and exciting opportunities.

  • We first welcomed the founder and President of 4DLH, Mr "Lofti Saibi", his vast management experience as a business owner, a consultant, VP sales, and more recently as CEO, coupled with his love to teach and mentor, has made him a very well respected leader among his peers, customers, and competitors. One of the things that he talked about was Innovation as it shouldn't be limited to only one department in a startup structure, the true entrepreneur knows that innovation is something within all of us. All of his/her teammates can be innovative. He also taught us how to create a work environment where individuals want to devote their best efforts, using a collaborative diagnostic process, and to solve complex issues, achieve measurable results, and develop leadership capacity to improve productivity and performance.

He said "The secret ingredient that makes you a successful entrepreneur is people, knowing their weaknesses and strengths, what motivates them and how you interact with them, building a strong relationship based on trust and harmony will consistently produce efficiency improvements and better results."

  • After his enlightening session, we had the opportunity to welcome the specialist in project management and social innovation, Mr. "Paco Liorente", he explained to us the whole social entrepreneurship concept as it begins with the simple act of starting a business, anyone can become a social entrepreneur. All you need is drive, passion to help others, and a great idea. He did a simple exercise with us, when using our imagination we could connect every problem we have to the right solution. To make it simple and just try to imagine.  With collecting all the informations we have about the problem, critical thinking and considering options beyond the small square, we will get to the right answer.

  • And finally we finished the day with "Chaima Amraoui" the co-founder of "Makhla" a company that produces handmade backpacks out of dried palm fronds. She talked about the product she made with her other 8 teammates, how they turned their simple idea into a profitable product that created more job opportunities and downsized the quantities of palm fronds wasted. Besides, the challanges they've faced along the way, the support and help they've got from each other, and the lessons they've learnt while working on their product with which they won the best social impact prize with Injaz competition. She said

With passion, support and motivation, you can overcome the barriers of any obstacle, and thus accelerate the process of turning your simple idea into something that really works and impact your social life."
