How do you have an ‘elevator pitch’ contest when your country doesn't have many buildings taller than a few stories? You make it a ‘rocket pitch’ contest instead.

GEW / Bermuda's "Launch Pad" will be broadcast in three half-hour prime time programs during Global Entrepreneurship Week. The competition features aspiring young entrepreneurs presenting their business plans to three of Bermuda’s commercial banks for a chance at start-up financing.

The program was videotaped on Saturday, November 6th and will air on VSB-TV (the NBC national affiliate) on November 16th, 17th, and 18th.

“Launch Pad” has 15 sponsors including HSBC-Bermuda, CapitalG, and Butterfield Bank who all served on the lending panel. The Bermuda Small Business Development Corporation produced Launch Pad along with the Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative.

Other GEW / Bermuda activities begin November 15 with e-Monday, an on-line shopping day, Rocket Pitch Competition on Tuesday, Sustainable Energy Challenge on Wednesday, and on Thursday the finals of the country's Innovation Tournament.

Stay tuned for more updates from the Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative, the official host of GEW / Bermuda.
