Canadians fully embraced Global Entrepreneurship Week in 2009 with 500 events throughout the country. Led by the Canadian Youth Business Foundation, GEW/Canada will certainly feature many face-to-face gatherings in 2010, but it will also reach out to aspiring young Canadian entrepreneurs through a couple of virtual activities as well.
Show Us Your Entrepreneur
Every entrepreneur has a story. Whether it’s the “a-ha” moment when a business idea strikes, overcoming the first challenge, or a really memorable sale, anyone who has their own business has a story or vision that defines entrepreneurship.
What makes an entrepreneur? Is it the teenage boy next door who mows lawns and shovels driveways? Is it your friend, who just opened her own consulting firm? Or is it you?
As part of Global Entrepreneurship Week Canada activities, CYBF is recruiting inspirational messages, stories and photos of young Canadian entrepreneurs on virtual postcards at ShowUsYourEntrepreneur.com. CYBF will display the photos, stories and postcards it receives throughout GEW to inspire future entrepreneurs and mentors across the country.
Great Canadian Mentor Challenge
We all know the value of a mentor to a young entrepreneur. To have someone with insight and experience available to answer questions and provide support and guidance is a truly invaluable resource for a new business owner.
CYBF has a world-class mentoring program that helps more than 93% of its entrepreneurs build their businesses into successful, thriving enterprises. In celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week / Canada, CYBF is hosting the Great Canadian Mentor Challenge.
From now until November 30th, it is asking everyone to log on to www.mentorchallenge.ca and submit a piece of advice to a young entrepreneur on topics as diverse as marketing, social media, business planning, funding challenges, cash flow or entrepreneur skill development.
