Diversity Matters

What is diversity?
It means understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences. These can be along. the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other cultural background.

Why Diversity matters?
When your company or brand is small and new, you have the ability to set the tone for who you want to be as a company. You need to be intentional about this from the get go. Forward thinking companies or brands must build diversity and inclusion in their marketing strategies from the beginning otherwise your campaign is just a white noise among the other brands in this growing market.

Small businesses and organizations must continue to adjust their marketing strategies to stay competitive and abreast of the latest trends and technologies. Likewise, marketers should constantly assess how their target market is evolving and changing over time. Businesses should ask themselves whether their business resembles the communities and customers they serve?

If your customers are different that you and they feel unrecognized, you will begin to lose them. Diversity is important not only from a corporate responsibility standpoint but also for profitability in an increasingly growing market.

What Role Does Diversity Play In Brand Building?
The role diversity plays in building a sound brand strategy is more important than ever. Think beyond demo and psychographic insights. While those elements still play an important role, savvy brand builders are layering in the measurable impact consumer’s culture has on what brands they support. Consumers are characterized by a set of core values that play a huge role in buying behavior.
