Contracting and Subcontracting

Contracting and subcontracting are allowed by the Labor Code subject to limitations and DOLE regulations. The industry is highly regulated as it is directly affects the security of tenure of employees hired by the Contractor to do the job or work farmed out by the Principal. To ensure compliance, the Principal and the Contractor are jointly required to observe the law and regulations; otherwise, they become solidarily liable to the employee.
