These challenges suggest that the sector is not operating as optimally as it could, given the growing evidence that a more diverse workforce brings greater innovative potential, strategic intellect, and problem-solving capacity.

In 2022, RMIT University's Centre for Cyber Security Research and Innovation (CCSRI), Australian Women in Security Network (AWSN) and Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) have invested in a study to identify practical ways to expand and diversify the industry’s talent pool.

Dr Leonora Risse was part of the opening panel at the jobs and skills summit a couple of months ago. She was also part of the team leading the research on The Security Industry Workforce - Understanding gender dimensions Project Study. During this session, Dr Risse will present some of the key findings from this study, followed by a short panel to discuss what we as individuals, organisations and as an industry can do better to be the best we can be.
