GBAN Field Call: Capacity Building With Bangladesh Angels, All Female Accelerator WeScale, Understanding the Bangladeshi Early-Stage Investment Ecosystem

For #GEW2022, Nirjhor Rahman will speak to recent capacity building initiatives he and his team are working on with donors such as USAID and lessons for other small angel networks in incorporating that revenue stream into their structure. In addition, he'll discuss what Bangladesh Angels Network (BAN) has been up to the past 18 months, as well as developments in the Bangladesh ecosystem in the midst of challenges that many other ecosystems are facing, namely crises in currency, fuel and consumer and investor confidence. Bangladesh Angels and its sister chapter Bangladesh Women Investors Network is proud to partner with USAID, DAI, Singapore-based early stage accelerator and investor Accelerating Asia and angel networks and accelerators from across the region to launch WeScale, the first cross-regional accelerator in South Asia focused on women-led companies who want to raise their first funds.

Bangladesh Angels Network

Nirjhor is the CEO of Bangladesh Angels Network, the country's first angel investment network to connect innovative startups with smart capital via individual and institutional investors.  Previously he was Country Director for ygap, a social business accelerator where he oversaw a network of early-stage ventures across the country. He started his career in Bangladesh by helping to scale a social enterprise in urban sanitation called SWEEP, which is now in 4 cities and has received impact investments and support from Skoll Foundation, DFID, Unilever, among others.
