The Entrepreneurial Spirit of Indonesian Iron Ladies

The event titled The Entrepreneurial Spirit of Indonesian Iron Ladies was held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Main Building, 4th Floor, Room 404. The event began at 2:15 PM, with the MC introducing the speakers and explaining the expectations participants might have from the seminar. The MC introduced the two moderators who led the session. The seminar officially started at 2:37 PM, with the speakers, Mrs. Tarisa Widya Krisnadi and Mrs. Shanti L. Poesposoetjipto, sharing their backgrounds.

Mrs. Tarisa, the first speaker, shared her story of growing up in a family of nine siblings, with three brothers and six sisters. Despite the gender differences, her family never discriminated based on gender. This perspective shaped her leadership style. She emphasized that when leading a company, a founder must be selfless, always prioritizing employees over personal interests. One key to her success, according to Mrs. Tarisa, is maintaining a positive mindset, starting each day with optimism. She believes that a negative outlook in the morning leads to a negative outcome. Success begins in the morning, and simple actions like pushing oneself and staying positive are essential. Mrs. Tarisa is the second generation to lead her company, and she has set a requirement for the next generation of leaders: anyone wishing to join her company must first work for at least three years in another company. This ensures that future leaders are more responsible and understand how other companies operate.

Mrs. Shanti then shared her background and keys to success. She was raised by two single-parent grandmothers and was deeply influenced by Minangkabau culture, where women are seen as more dominant than men. This cultural upbringing shaped Mrs. Shanti into a wise and admired figure, with her wisdom continuing to inspire others to this day.
