GEW 2024: Live Podcast: “Entrepreneurship Unlocked”

As part of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2024, ASTRAtech successfully hosted the Live Podcast: “Entrepreneurship Unlocked” on November 20, 2024. Held in the state-of-the-art Podcast Studio at the ASTRAtech Campus, this engaging event brought together entrepreneurship enthusiasts for an inspiring discussion on building and sustaining businesses in today’s competitive landscape.

The podcast featured two distinguished guest speakers: Ms. Yendi Amalia, CEO of Wordsmith, and Mr. Asep Rustandi, Director of PT. Artha Masindo Nusantara. Ms. Amalia’s presence was facilitated through the networks of Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) Indonesia, underscoring the event's international connectivity. Meanwhile, Mr. Rustandi represented ASTRAtech’s collaboration with Yayasan Dharma Bhakti Astra (YDBA), a foundation belongs to PT Astra International Tbk that empowers Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across Indonesia.

During the session, Ms. Amalia emphasized the importance of networking in entrepreneurship, stating, “As long as you know and understand your value, you will be fine.” She explained how self-awareness and confidence naturally lead to meaningful connections and expansive networks—critical tools for entrepreneurial success. Complementing her insights, Mr. Rustandi highlighted the community impact of entrepreneurship, saying, “One of your goals as an entrepreneur is to contribute to your community and ensure your business benefits others.” These perspectives underscored the dual purpose of entrepreneurship: achieving personal success while driving societal progress.

Virtual attendees engaged actively by submitting live comments, with the most insightful contributions earning exciting prizes, making the session both interactive and rewarding.

About Politeknik Astra

Astra Polytechnic (ASTRAtech), formerly known as Politeknik Manufaktur Astra (Polman Astra), is a vocational higher education institution offering Diploma 3 and Diploma 4 programs under the auspices of Yayasan Astra Bina Ilmu (YABI), one of nine foundations owned by PT Astra International Tbk. Established in Jakarta in 1995 by PT Federal Motor (now PT Astra Honda Motor or AHM), it initially operated as Akademi Teknik Federal under Yayasan Federal Bina Ilmu. In 2001, the institution was renamed Politeknik Manufaktur Astra, commonly known as Polman Astra. Currently, ASTRAtech offers six Three-year Diploma programs: Production Tool and Die Manufacturing Engineering (P4), Manufacturing Process and Production Engineering (TPM), Informatics Management (MI), Automotive Engineering (MO), Mechatronics (MK), and Building Construction Technology (TKBG). Additionally, it offers three Applied Bachelor (D4) programs: Heavy Equipment Maintenance Engineering Technology (TRPAB), Logistics Engineering Technology (TRL), and Software Engineering Technology (TRPL).

Since 2009, as part of the Semangat Astra Terpadu (SATU Indonesia) program, Politeknik Astra has provided over 1,100 students with scholarships through the Astra Achievement Scholarship Program. The selection process is rigorous to ensure the scholarships reach those who genuinely need financial support. The success of this program lies not in the disbursement of allocated funds but in effectively assisting students who truly require financial aid.

Since its establishment in 1995, Politeknik Astra has graduated 4,582 Associate Engineers, significantly contributing to the industrial development of Indonesia, particularly within the Astra Group. In the past five years, approximately 50% of Politeknik Astra’s alumni have been absorbed into the Astra Group, demonstrating the institution’s strong alignment with industry demands for highly skilled technical professionals.
