Intrapreneurial Careers: Integrating SDGs for a Sustainable Future

The event titled Intrapreneurial Careers: Integrating SDGs for a Sustainable Future took place on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM online via Zoom and YouTube live streaming, with 578 participants. The session began with the opening remarks by the MC at 10:00 AM, highlighting the importance of SDG factors for students. The moderator, Mr. Daniel, was introduced and explained the implementation of SDGs at PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA). He then handed over the session to the speaker, Mrs. Linda Chandrawati, to lead the seminar.

Mrs. Linda began her presentation by thanking Universitas Ciputra and introducing Bank BCA, which has 1,300 branch offices and established the ESG Group at the end of 2019. The focus of this group is on developing the SDGs. Mrs. Linda emphasized that sustainability is critical for businesses because consumer behavior is shifting towards eco-friendly products. The application of SDGs has led to a rise in stock indexes and enhanced corporate value, especially for companies focusing on sustainability. She also showed a video about BCA’s SDG initiatives. BCA’s environmentally friendly and low-emission operations are influenced by several factors:

  1. Digitalization, where transactions are conducted digitally, reducing paper usage, mobility, and emissions.
  2. Conservation, with two key programs: one focusing on the conservation of protected species like rehabilitating and reintroducing orangutans, as well as restoring four islands and releasing 1,642 newly hatched turtles. The second program involves planting trees, with BCA planting 5,500 mangrove seedlings to support marine ecosystems.
  3. Green Buildings and Energy Efficiency, where BCA received a platinum certification for its green buildings, such as BCA Foresta, which earned a low-energy certification, and Wisma BSB Semarang.
  4. Recycling and Waste Management, which positively impacts the economy, environment, and communities.

Mrs. Linda also highlighted the importance of equality for all employees and how BCA ensures fairness within the company. BCA provides accessible facilities and campaigns for its employees, ensuring they can perform their duties effectively. Additionally, BCA established various charitable programs, including education, health, environmental, and cultural initiatives.

The session ended with a Q&A, moderated by Mr. Daniel, lasting about 10 minutes. The questions focused on:

  1. How BCA addresses racism in the implementation of gender equality within the SDGs.
  2. How BCA handles the potential impact of digitalization on employment rates.
  3. How BCA investigates illegal companies.
  4. How BCA sustains economic growth while applying the SDGs.

After the Q&A session, the event concluded with the presentation of awards and a group photo with the participants.
