Held March 16 to 19, 2015, the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) offers an array of events in Milan. While the types of events and activities vary widely, they all share a common thread—how to empower entrepreneurs and enable them to start and grow firms that create jobs and improve lives.

With the Congress just two months away, the first round of parallel events, sessions organized by partners and sponsors on specific topics as part of the overarching Congress, have been confirmed.

Of particular interest to international delegates are two parallel events that will be held March 17, 2015:

  • Entrepreneurship Strategies for Youth Unemployment: Inclusive and Sustainable Solutions | Presented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization
  • EMPRETEC Summit II | Presented by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development

Both events focus on entrepreneurship ecosystem development, fostering skills and competencies of successful entrepreneurs, as well as networking.

Following the success of the Africa-focused parallel event in Moscow, LIONS@FRICA and the Global Entrepreneurship Network will cohost Unleashing African Entrepreneurship on March 18, 2015.

This year marks the first time that the GEC will feature an invitation-only accelerator session for entrepreneurs with operating revenue above $250,000. Run by Entrepreneur’s Organization, the EO Accelerator Strategy Session will run from March 18 to 19, 2015. Participants will receive invaluable experience in the form of workshops, strategy sessions and mentoring from members of EO’s Milan Chapter.

In addition to the accelerator session, a number of parallel events will focus on entrepreneurs, offering workshops to help them bolster their business ideas, adopt the entrepreneurial mindset and become better entrepreneurs including:

  • Business Process Re-Engineering: From Idea to Commercialization | Presented by Sustainable Entrepreneur Accelerator Africa and the South African Bureau of Standards Design Institute
  • Startup Experience | Presented by the Global Entrepreneurship Network and Startup Experience

For the more policy-driven attendees, Startup Nations will be hosting the Startup Nations Unconference on March 19, 2015. The global network of startup-savvy policymakers anticipates the emergence of more national and local startup campaigns around the world, and sets out to enable the leaders of these initiatives to foster collaboration while sharing lessons learned and new approaches to measure impact.
