Junior Achievement DECA Idea Challenge Item Reveal

From its inception in 2011 The St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with St. Lucia Youth Business Trust and Junior Achievement St. Lucia has had the pleasure of hosting Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) St. Lucia.   GEW is the world’s largest celebration of innovators and job creators who launch start-ups and bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare. It aims to inspire the next generation of future entrepreneurs and business leaders by building and developing their confidence and ambitions.

Every November, with the support of partners, thousands of activities such as business competitions, essay contests, mentoring sessions, talk shows, large scale conferences and networking events are planned and executed during GEW. The week is also used to launch new initiatives, showcase projects and raise the profile of entrepreneurship in their locality.

In 2016, the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) Idea Challenge was introduced to schools islandwide. DECA Idea Challenge is a fast-paced learning activity that challenges student teams around the globe to find an innovative new use for a commonplace item within eight days. Student teams of three to five members are required to pitch their invention in a creative, 3-minute YouTube video presentation. Visit www.decadirect/2016.org for more information.
