Kumihimo Braiding Workshop

Kumihimo is a Japanese word that means “gathered thread”. It is a traditional Japanese artform of making braids and cords that was first used for decorating Buddhist scrolls and other artifacts. Later, it was used to bind together Samurai armours and Kimonos. It has since evolved into a modern craft popular for making tourist souvenir necklaces, bracelets and even as wall art in stylish design.

In this workshop you will be introduced to the modern kumihimo wheel and learn to interlace strands of threads through a guided braid-along process to make a braided rope for a souvenir bracelet or cord.

  • Class Schedules:

• 1. Thursdays | 3pm-6pm (Junior Class, 13-15 y/o)
  2. Saturdays | 8am-11am (Play Class, 6-12 y/o)
  3. Saturdays | 3pm-6pm (Regular Class, 16 y/o and older)
  4. Sundays are for Group Bundles or you may request for special dates
