Accelerate Entrepreneurship. Think. Start. Scale

As part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Maldives 2025, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, in collaboration with Villa College as the National Host, conducted a high-impact multi-session programme designed to strengthen the entrepreneurial capabilities of youth, startups, and small business owners across the Maldives.

This activity brought together key national agencies, international partners, and industry experts to provide practical, actionable knowledge essential for starting, scaling, and sustaining entrepreneurial ventures. The programme supported the GEW global theme “Together We Build” by empowering participants through knowledge-sharing, capacity building, and ecosystem collaboration.

Key Sessions Included:

1. Understanding Intellectual Property & Its Importance for Entrepreneurs

Delivered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), this session helped participants understand how to protect their brands, inventions, creative works, and business innovations. It emphasized the strategic value of IP rights in safeguarding competitive advantage and supporting long-term business growth.

2. Business Registration Process

Facilitated by the Business Services Department, Registrar of Companies, this session guided participants through the regulatory and procedural steps required to legally establish and formalize a business in the Maldives, promoting compliance and ease of doing business.

3. E-tukuri – Ecommerce Solution

Presented by Maldives Post, the session showcased the E-tukuri digital commerce platform, highlighting how entrepreneurs can market products online, manage logistics, and expand access to national and international markets.

4. Finance Literacy Workshop

Conducted by the Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB), this workshop provided essential financial knowledge, including savings, budgeting, investment basics, and financial planning—empowering participants to make informed financial decisions in their entrepreneurial journeys.

5. How to Use AI in Business

Led by Nageeth Abdullah, AI Advocate in the Maldives, this session introduced participants to practical ways AI can improve business operations—from customer engagement and marketing to workflow automation, analytics, and decision-making.

This comprehensive activity equipped participants with the foundational tools needed to navigate the modern business landscape—fostering innovation, enhancing competitiveness, and strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the Maldives.
