The Mexican startup ecosystem has had some positive developments lately and that momentum will likely continue through Global Entrepreneurship Week this November.
This year, GEW / Mexico has a new supporter from the government, the National Institute of the Entrepreneur (INADEM). Mexico’s President Enrique Peña Nieto signed a decree in January creating the Institute as a decentralized administrative office of the Secretariat of Economy. INADEM leadership quickly gravitated toward GEW and plans to host a National Entrepreneurship Award ceremony--with President Nieto presiding.
Co-hosted by Endeavor Mexico and Impulsa, the GEW / Mexico campaign is dedicating a number of theme days targeted at different groups of entrepreneurs throughout the week:
- Supporting Women entrepreneurship - November 19
- Entrepreneurship for Students - November 20
- Entrepreneurship for Kids - November 21
- Entrepreneurship in Arts and Design - November 22
- Technology and Entrepreneurship - November 23
Top universities throughout the country are planning large scale events and have already garnered support from corporate giants such as HSBC, PWC and Naranya.
