Samriddhi the Prosperity Foundation, the GEW host organization in Nepal, is busy with GEW events this week, seeking to create a national conversation around entrepreneurship.
1. Debate Competition: “Capitalism versus Communism”
Global Entrepreneurship Week Nepal kicked off with its first event, a debate competition on “Capitalism versus Communism”. This event was held on November 17, 2014, at Kings College, Bijulibazar. The event commenced at 3:30 and followed the British Parliamentary format, so there was the government team and the opposition team. The government team supported arguments and the opposition team placed opposing arguments on capitalism being better than communism. There were in total eight debaters, four from the government side and four from the opposition side as well as about 30 students to observe the debate. It was a strong debate with both sides keeping their strong data supporting their views.
2. Training at ACE College with Management and Entrepreneurs
GEW Nepal’s second event was a series of training programs in different colleges of which ACE College was one. On November 17, 2014 a training session was held from 10:30- 11:30 am. Anil Parajuli informed the participants from ACE MBA about the competition “Ideas for a free Society”, a competition held as part of GEW 2014 in Nepal. Then the training session was conducted bySamyukta Rupakheti, facilitator of LEAD International. The training session was on “Enhancing Efficiency by Managing Time”. There were in total 55 students who participants for the training session.
3. Training Session at Kanitpur City College
Another training session was held at Kantipur City College on November 18, 2014. An introductory session was conducted by Parajuli, who once again encouraged students to participate in more Global Entrepreneurship Week events in Nepal. The session was followed by a tutorial session on a new age marketing using social media by Manish Jha, training facilitator. There were in total 40 students who took part in the training session.
