Daaqi - its literal translation meaning postman, delivers all the necessary office supplies, business mails, and parcels at customers' doorsteps on time and for a matchless price. The one-year-old start-up, with over 200 satisfied clients, can be distinguished as a one-stop solution for all logistical needs of corporate houses. With its current success, this innovative enterprise seems all set to make its mark in the Nepali business sector.
Having said that, the company’s journey has not been without challenges, especially while complying with the complex company registration process of Nepal. “During the registration process, we faced some serious problems regarding the nature of business. Daaqi is a logistical solution business, but they (Office of Company Registrar) were insisting that this is an import-export business, and we should register in EXIM format,” says Shah.
Shah thus opines that, in the view of growing private sector emergence, the ambiguities which persist in complying with company registration should be mitigated with intensive reforms. As per him, a provision to help entrepreneurs with all the required information at the time of registration would make it much easier to start a business. Furthermore, he advocates for favorable policy environment for start-ups - such as tax exemptions for a few years of operation - would incentivize individuals to commence or expand their business.
