About GEN in Bermuda

Since launching Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) in Bermuda, GEN has worked alongside a broad coalition of partners to create opportunities for entrepreneurs to connect, learn, and showcase their ideas. Coordinated by the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation (BEDC), GEN's engagement with the local ecosystem has received support from the Government of Bermuda, the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce, educational institutions, community organizations, and private-sector leaders committed to strengthening the island's entrepreneurial ecosystem.

GEN's programming in Bermuda has reflected the diverse needs of its business community, such as enterprise risk management, business continuity, and commercial resilience, creating opportunities for executives and entrepreneurs to exchange practical strategies for navigating an evolving economy.

GEN has also been helping Bermuda champion inclusive entrepreneurship through initiatives such as the 2025 Women's Empowerment Summit: Bermuda and Beyond, which brought together women entrepreneurs, executives, and community leaders to discuss leadership, innovation, and expanding opportunities for women in business. Another example has been the Bermuda Island Games Video Game Design Challenge, which encouraged young people to design products combining creativity, technology, and entrepreneurial thinking.

GEN Bermuda has also created pathways for local entrepreneurs to gain international exposure. For instance, as part of its Global Entrepreneurship Week campaign in 2014, the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation organized Bermuda's participation in the Future Agro Challenge, selecting Bermuda Aerial Media, founded by Connor Burns and EJ Burrows, to represent the island internationally. The company went on to win the global championship in Athens, demonstrating that innovative ventures emerging from Bermuda can compete successfully on the world stage.

Bermuda has received multiple Champion Catalyser Compass Awards at the Global Entrepreneurship Congress, recognizing Bermuda for achieving the highest levels of engagement in Global Entrepreneurship Week relative to its size. The awards celebrate exceptional collaboration among ecosystem partners and reflect the longstanding leadership of the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation (BEDC), the Department of ICT Policy and Innovation, the Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative of Bermuda, and dozens of public and private sector partners.

GEN Bermuda continues to strengthen connections across government, business, education, and civil society while expanding opportunities for entrepreneurs to build companies, access global networks, and contribute to Bermuda's economic resilience and prosperity.
