Islamabad: The two-day celebration of The Millennium Global Entrepreneurship Week MGEW – 2015, an undertaking that commemorates startup innovators and job creators, came to a close with a Mega Fashion Show at the Millennium University College, on Saturday, says a press release.
The third MGEW at TMUC was organized in collaboration with Global Entrepreneurship Week Pakistan, and the Indus Entrepreneurs TIE Islamabad Chapter. This year MGEW celebrated woman and youth empowerment and entrepreneurship on the underlying theme 'Innovate. Achieve. Inspire".
Youth from various undergraduate programs at the Millennium University College were engaged to organize the event that commenced, on Friday, with two panel discussions wherein founders of social NGOs, activists, young entrepreneurs shared their inspirational journey to success.
Panelists for this year include young achievers from various walks of life, including Hira B.R (strategist and co-founder She'kab), Ali Fateh (founder Fanning the Passion), Ibraheem Ahmed (CEO – GOAL), Hajra Khan (National women's football team captain), Atif Siddique (COO of Sabro), shared their inspirational journey to success with the students followed by a question answer session.
The second panel moderated by the award winning television anchor Shabnam Riaz, was on "Insight into Social Entrepreneurship and Activism". Panelists who discussed the theme in both national and global context include Amna Mawaz Khan (Social Activist), Musstanser Tinauli (Founder Fori Mazdoori), Aqsa Khan (Women's Rights Activist), Saad Hamid (Invest 2 Innovate), Nadine Murtaza (founder - Dheeray Bol).
Both panels were followed by question answer sessions where inquisitive students asked several questions of the panelists regarding their relevant field of expertise.
The MGEW-2015 ended on the 21st of November with a fashion show showcasing budding entrepreneurs in the fashion industry and students belonging to various local institutions aspiring to launch their labels. The models walking the ramp were students of the international programmes being offered at TMUC.
While addressing the participants, TMUC Rector Faisal Mushtaq strongly emphasized on the power of youth, especially women, and the need to have a singular Pakistani identity. The ceremony ended with Mr Mushtaq and Director RMS Anna Faisal awarding shields of appreciation to the chief guest, designers, and sponsors of the event.
