Niño De Elche

ABOUT THE EVENT

The event is a concert featuring Niño de Elche, an unusual “cantaor” (flamenco singer). He is a multidisciplinary artist who combines flamenco singing with performances, poetry, improvisation, minimalism, singer-songwriting, rock or electronics. He comes to Manila to offer a solo concert called Memorial Flamenco Gitano (A Celebration of Gypsy Flamenco), with Emilio Fernández (Caracafe) accompanying him at the guitar.

This concert aims not only to promote the world renown Spanish artist, but also to introduce him and his avant garde style to the Filipino audience, who is more familiar with the traditional flamenco. Niño de Elche breaks out of the mold: he sings because he wants, what he wants and however he wants, because he knows and because he can. He is a multidisciplinary artist who leaves the door open for art, polemics, singing, criticism and reflection.
