Smart Cities Innovation Programme – Softlanding Programme for startups bootcamp

On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development
(BMZ), GIZ through "Make-IT in Africa II" in partnership with Westerwelle Startup Haus
Kigali and various local and regional ecosystem players, is launching Smart Cities
Innovation Programme – Soft-landing Programme For East African Start-ups. This is
following a successful implementation of the first version of the Smart Cities Innovation
Programme (see details here).

The SCIP Soft-landing programme aims to connect startups in Rwanda and Kenya with
regional markets relevant for them to scale. This will target overall 20 startups and will
be achieved through capacity building, mentorship, exploration trips and networking
events. The objectives of the assignment are two folds – (a) to improve the startups
marketability and market expansion (b) to foster partnerships among private, public
players with startups to enhance regional collaboration and integration.

On November 13 th , 2023, a kickoff bootcamp will take place to initiate the journey and
connect startups and build their capacity to scale their markets. The Rwanda bootcamp
will take place at WSHK.
