App Ideas for Online Learning

Got an idea? Turn it into an app!

The App Ideas session, conducted on 06 November 2025 as part of GEW 2025, encouraged students to explore how technology can be used to solve real-life problems through simple and meaningful applications. Organized by ICST University, the session aimed to guide students in thinking creatively, identifying daily challenges, and understanding how digital solutions can support education, productivity, communication, and community well-being.

Students were introduced to the fundamentals of idea generation for app development, including recognizing user needs, defining problems clearly, and proposing practical features. Facilitators emphasized the importance of design thinking focusing on usefulness, user experience, and identifying a target audience. Through discussions and examples, students learned how successful apps begin with observation, curiosity, and understanding real-world challenges.

The session had a strong impact, especially in the context of online learning. Students explored common digital learning challenges such as time management, staying focused, group coordination, and accessing study materials. They discussed ways apps could help solve these issues by offering reminders productivity tools, study planners, or interactive learning features.

A highly energizing moment occurred when students stood up to present their own app ideas. The room became lively as they shared concepts confidently and listened attentively to each other. The active participation of both boys and girls created an inclusive and collaborative learning environment that supported creativity and innovation.

Overall, the session empowered students to see themselves as creators and future innovators. It strengthened their problem-solving skills, boosted their confidence, and encouraged them to imagine how technology can be used to build impactful digital solutions.
