Become a Confident Speaker

Turn nervousness into power become a confident speaker!

The Become a Confident Speaker session, held on 19 November 2025, was designed to strengthen students’ communication skills and help them develop the mindset needed to speak clearly and confidently in both academic and professional environments. The session emphasized that confident speaking is not about perfection it is about clarity, presence, and genuine connection with the audience.

Students learned that confidence in speaking grows from preparation, practice, and self-awareness. Facilitators introduced essential techniques such as voice modulation, structured speaking, effective body language, and using pauses to create impact. They demonstrated how strong communication skills help build trust, enhance leadership qualities, and open doors to new opportunities.

A key message shared during the session was: “Confidence grows when you focus on the message, not the fear.” This helped students shift their attention away from nervousness and toward the value of what they are communicating. They were also reminded that “a confident speaker connects, not performs,” reinforcing that speaking is a meaningful interaction not a stage performance.

Students participated in short speeches, storytelling practices, and peer feedback activities, which allowed them to improve their delivery in a supportive environment. They explored practical strategies such as controlled breathing, maintaining eye contact, managing anxiety, and using simple, clear language. The facilitator encouraged students to view mistakes as learning opportunities, reminding them that “every mistake is a chance to improve.”

Preparation → Practice → Clarity → Connection → Confidence → Growth

helped students understand that confidence develops step by step. With consistent effort, fear transforms into strength and speaking becomes a powerful tool for leadership and influence.

By the end of the session, students demonstrated greater assurance, clearer expression, and improved control over their nervousness. They recognized that confident speaking is a lifelong skill that empowers them to lead, collaborate, inspire others, and succeed in future careers.
