Bulid & Sell Game

The Build & Sell Game session, held on 15 November 2025 as part of GEW 2025, offered students a practical and engaging experience of the entrepreneurial journey. Organized by ICST University Park in collaboration with ICTA Sri Lanka, the session helped students understand how simple ideas can be transformed into creative digital products using basic game development techniques.

The session began by introducing students to the role of a game developer someone who combines creativity, logic, design, and problem-solving to build games. Students learned that anyone can create a simple game using beginner-friendly tools, even without advanced coding skills. They discovered that game development also involves storytelling, character design, rule setting, and creating enjoyable player experiences.

Students were then guided through the core steps of the game creation process, including choosing a concept, designing game elements, building basic mechanics, testing the game, and refining it based on feedback. The facilitator emphasized patience, creativity, and iteration, reminding students that improvement is an important part of development.

The Build & Sell component of the session encouraged students to think beyond creation and consider how their digital product could be presented, pitched, and sold. Students learned that “selling is not just about the product, it’s about the story you tell”highlighting the importance of communication, branding, and understanding customer needs. They also explored how digital platforms allow creators to share or sell their games, turning creativity into real opportunities.

Teamwork and adaptability were core themes. The facilitator emphasized that strong teams create stronger products and that flexibility is essential when responding to feedback or competition. Students followed the entrepreneurial flow Creative → Idea → Vision → Mission → Prototype → Pitch → Market → Growth gaining a clear understanding of how an idea evolves into a market-ready concept.

By the end of the session, students had designed and presented their own product concepts while gaining valuable insights into creativity, innovation, storytelling, teamwork, and entrepreneurial strategy. The session successfully empowered them to take challenges confidently and view every idea as an opportunity to grow as future innovators and digital creators.
