The Challenges in Establishing an Entrepreneurship session, held on 13 November 2025, was designed to provide students with a realistic understanding of the obstacles entrepreneurs face when starting and managing a new business. Organized by ICST University Park, the session prepared young innovators with the awareness, mindset, and strategic thinking needed to navigate the complexities of the entrepreneurial journey.

Students were introduced to the major challenges commonly encountered during the early stages of building a business, including financial limitations, market competition, customer expectations, legal requirements, and operational risks. Through structured explanations and relatable examples, participants gained clarity on how these challenges affect business growth and long-term sustainability.

A key focus of the session was on practical skills essential for overcoming these obstacles. Students explored important concepts such as business planning, resource management, regulatory compliance, and the value of conducting proper market research before launching a venture. They learned how proper preparation reduces risks and increases the chances of building a strong and sustainable business.

The facilitator also highlighted real-life examples and case studies to illustrate how successful entrepreneurs tackle setbacks through resilience, creativity and strategic decision-making. Students discussed common reasons behind startup failures and collaborated on identifying strategies to transform challenges into opportunities for growth and innovation.

Overall, the session equipped students with realistic insights into the entrepreneurial process and encouraged them to approach future ventures with confidence, preparedness, and a problem-solving mindset. This aligns strongly with ICST’s mission to cultivate informed, capable and resilient future entrepreneurs.
