Critical Thinking is Your Secret Weapon

Your secret weapon for success? Critical thinking!

The Critical Thinking Is Your Secret Weapon session, held on 23 November 2025 at EDC Institute, Sammanthurai during GEW 2025, was designed to strengthen students’ ability to think logically, analyze information objectively, and make strategic decisions. Organized by ICST University Park and conducted by R. Thalib Ahmed, the session highlighted critical thinking as a foundational life skill that supports academic excellence, personal growth, and entrepreneurial success.

The session began by introducing the core elements of critical thinking logic, reasoning, evidence evaluation, and structured problem analysis. Students learned how to question assumptions, examine facts, identify biases, and avoid emotional or rushed decisions. This approach helped them understand how critical thinking leads to clarity and confidence when facing challenges.

Participants were guided through real-life examples demonstrating how critical thinking helps in evaluating information accuracy, preventing misinformation, and solving complex problems. These discussions showed students that strong thinking skills reduce mistakes and lead to better choices, whether in academics, personal situations, or teamwork.

A major focus of the session was the role of critical thinking in entrepreneurship. Students learned that successful entrepreneurs rely on analytical thinking to identify opportunities, assess risks, understand competitors, and develop practical solutions. They discovered that critical thinkers are more adaptable, innovative, and confident when making decisions in fast-changing environments.

The session encouraged students to think independently, reflect deeply, and approach problems with a structured mindset. By practicing questioning, analyzing, and evaluating, students began to see critical thinking not just as a skill, but as a powerful tool that can be applied in every area of life.

By the end of the workshop, students expressed greater clarity and confidence in their decision-making. They understood that critical thinking is a lifelong advantage a true “secret weapon” that helps them navigate academic challenges, personal choices, and entrepreneurial journeys with strength and wisdom.
