Developing a Growth Mindset

Developing a Growth Mindset

The Developing a Growth Mindset session, held on 18 November 2025, encouraged students to shift from fixed thinking to a mindset focused on continuous learning, improvement, and resilience. Organized as part of GEW 2025, the session aimed to help students understand that intelligence and abilities are not static, but can grow through consistent effort, practice, and determination.

The facilitator emphasized that success is not defined by natural talent alone; rather, it is shaped by persistence, curiosity, and a willingness to embrace challenges. Students learned that “intelligence is not fixed; it grows with effort,” helping them rethink how they approach mistakes and new tasks. They were reminded that “failure is feedback, not the end,” motivating them to view setbacks as learning opportunities instead of barriers.

A key part of the session focused on attitude and adaptability. Students explored how mindset influences behavior, decision-making, and future success. They learned that “your mindset shapes your future,” and that those who adapt to change and stay open to learning are more likely to find new opportunities and solutions.

Through reflective exercises, students identified their own challenges and reframed them with a growth-oriented perspective. They practiced setting progress-focused goals and were guided through the entrepreneurial flow:
Challenge → Effort → Feedback → Adaptation → Growth → Success,
which demonstrated how continuous improvement leads to long-term achievement.

Students also explored real-world examples of innovators and leaders who achieved success through persistence and adaptability. They learned strategies to seek feedback, stay motivated, and replace limiting beliefs with empowering thoughts such as “I can’t do this yet.” This helped them understand that growth takes time, patience, and consistent effort.

By the end of the session, students expressed increased confidence in their ability to learn, improve, and overcome challenges. They recognized that developing a growth mindset equips them with the resilience, adaptability, and determination needed to succeed academically, professionally, and personally.
