 Eco-Innovation

The Eco Innovation session held on 04th November 2025 under Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2025, encouraged students to think creatively about solving environmental challenges through innovation and entrepreneurship. Organized by ICST University in collaboration with ICTA Sri Lanka, the session highlighted how sustainability and business can work together to create meaningful opportunities for society and the planet.

Students learned the meaning of eco-innovation developing solutions that reduce environmental harm while improving efficiency and performance. They explored real issues such as plastic pollution, waste management and energy use, and discussed how technology, creativity and teamwork can help address these challenges.

Through interactive discussions and group activities, participants worked in teams to design ideas like biodegradable packaging, solar-powered devices, and waste-to-energy solutions. They shared their concepts, presented prototypes and demonstrated a strong understanding of how innovative thinking can lead to sustainable living.

The session also strengthened essential skills such as teamwork, communication, leadership, and problem-solving. Teachers observed increased enthusiasm for science, creativity, and project-based learning, showing how the program successfully connected academic knowledge with real-world environmental action.

Overall, the Eco-Innovation session left a lasting impact by motivating students to become environmentally responsible innovators. It aligned perfectly with GEW’s vision of empowering youth to become changemakers dedicated to building a greener, smarter and more sustainable Sri Lanka.
