IT IN BUSINESS

The “IT in Business” session, held on 01st November 2025, was conducted by the undergraduates of ICST University Park in collaboration with ICTA Sri Lanka as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2025. This interactive session aimed to help students understand the vital role of Information Technology in today’s business world and inspire them to think innovatively and entrepreneurially. 

Throughout the session, students explored how digital tools—such as online payments, websites, digital marketing, customer service platforms, and social media—are transforming modern business operations. Real-world examples, including supermarket billing systems, mobile banking, online shopping, QR menus, taxi apps, and WhatsApp Business, helped students clearly see how IT improves efficiency, reduces effort, and drives business growth. 

A key focus of the program was empowering students, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds, by giving them exposure to essential technological knowledge. The session motivated them to develop IT skills, understand future job opportunities, and explore how technology can support small and rural businesses in becoming more competitive and innovative. 

Overall, the activity successfully sparked interest in technology, enhanced digital awareness, and encouraged students to view IT as a powerful tool for entrepreneurship, problem-solving, and future career development.
