Tie-and-Dye Saree Design Work Shop Series- Day 9

Progressing through the Southern Province, the workshop in Hambantota provided hands-on training in tie-dye saree design, focusing on fabric selection, dye formulation, pattern folding, colour blending, and finishing procedures. Participants engaged in structured activities that helped them understand quality control, colour fastness, and design uniformity necessary for commercial textile production. Through demonstrations and creative practice, attendees learned how to create appealing, modern saree designs with strong retail potential. The workshop also highlighted accessible, cost-effective production models that could support home-based manufacturers and small enterprises in expanding their product offerings. By integrating artistic skill development with entrepreneurial knowledge, the programme promoted income diversification, strengthened rural livelihoods, and contributed to the growth of innovative textile businesses in Hambantota.
