Event Overview

The SLUDTERA Barter Challenge 2024 is a dynamic week-long initiative during Global Entrepreneurship Week designed to foster collaboration among small businesses and entrepreneurs by facilitating the exchange of skills, expertise, and resources without monetary transactions. The event encourages the St. Lucian small business community to engage in barter arrangements to solve challenges, promote bootstrapping, and stretch their limited budgets, all while enhancing their business capabilities.

Entrepreneurs and problem solvers will be able to leverage their skillsets, competitive advantages, and subject matter expertise as bartering tools to help each other meet business needs. This challenge promotes a practical, innovative, and community-driven approach to business growth, where participants can exchange services or products to support each other's goals.

How It Works

Registration:

Small businesses, freelancers, and entrepreneurs interested in participating in the SLUDTERA Barter Challenge 2024 must register online via the Google Form by October 31st, 2024.

Upon registration, participants will create a profile showcasing their business, skills, products, or services they are offering for barter, and what they are seeking in return.

Matchmaking Process

SLUDTERA will facilitate the initial matching of participants based on their needs and offerings.
A curated digital platform will allow participants to browse other business profiles, initiate barter conversations, and propose trade agreements.

The Barter Exchange

Once paired, participants will have one week (November 18th – 22nd & 24th, 2024) to collaborate, negotiate, and execute their barter agreements.

Bartering can involve offering a service, such as graphic design, social media marketing, financial advice, or product development in exchange for another service or product to help each business grow.

SLUDTERA will guide how to structure fair and beneficial trade agreements and best practices for successful collaboration.

Final Showcase

At the end of the week, to culminate our GEW celebrations, participants will submit a brief report or video presentation on the results of their barter experience.

Selected participants will present their barter success stories in a virtual showcase event on November 24th, where the community will hear how the challenge helped them overcome business hurdles and move forward.

Step 2: Get Matched or Browse Profiles
Based on your needs and offerings, SLUDTERA will match you with a business to barter with. Alternatively, you can browse the platform to find someone whose skills or products align with your needs.

Step 3: Negotiate & Barter
Connect with your match to negotiate the terms of your barter exchange. Set clear expectations, timelines, and deliverables.

Step 4: Showcase Your Success
After completing your barter, submit a summary of your experience for a chance to present in the final showcase.
