Social Innovation Lab

How does the program work?

In order to promote social innovation in Taiwan, MOEA started to provide measures related to social innovation from 2014. In the beginning, SMEA encouraged existed social enterprises constituted a social enterprise networking. In 2017, for further encouraging entrepreneurs to solve social problems with innovative methods and to create social influence, the Social Innovation Lab was funded in 2017.

Social Innovation Lab is an open dialogue and service platform for all sectors of society. It is connecting people from private and public sectors to participate in sharing and exchanging ideas about social issues, social innovation, and creating an open, mutual-aid, and experimental environment for the community concerned with social issues, and then create social influence. 

Monitoring + Evaluation Methods

Social Innovation Lab is an open dialogue and service platform for all sectors of society. It is connecting people from private and public sectors to participate in sharing and exchanging ideas about social issues, social innovation, and creating an open, mutual-aid, and experimental environment for the community concerned with social issues, and then create social influence.

The Social Innovation Lab is the fruit of collective wisdom from more than one hundred social enterprises. During the preparatory stage, we organized five co-creation workshops, to which 100+ social enterprises were invited to communicate their conceptions and expectations for the Lab.  

Details:

It provides different functions information that startups may need:

  • One-stop consultation: It provides services such as consulting for social enterprise, people interested in social innovation, etc.
  • Creative Coffee: It provides a relaxed space, holding a small presentation, display and experience services.
  • Resident Services: It provides services such as cross-domain cooperation, corporate CSR, group recruitment and online counseling services.

Facilities rental service: It provides some facilities the teams may need in sharing and experimenting process.

What impact has been measured?

We were pleased to see the opening of the Lab on October 18th 2017, under the support of the public and the hard work of our staff members. During the two and a half months till December 31st, altogether 221 events were held there, and the Lab was visited by more than 13,000 persons.
