Innovative mobile app Flexyapp claims first prize at Startup Weekend Mobile Sydney

Media Release Monday, 12 November, 2012 Irina Belsky Innovative mobile app Flexyapp claims first prize at Startup Weekend Mobile Sydney. Flexyapp took home first prize after competing against 14 other startups during Startup Weekend Mobile Sydney this weekend. The app offers users last minute cheap movie tickets based on their location and available movie times and sessions. It will function as a dynamic marketplace where users will be able to see the deals most relevant to them. Flexyapp founders Joshua Rea and Liam Holmes will receive Samsung Galaxy S4 mobile phones and desks at the Fishburners co-working space to use until March 2013 as part of their prize. They will also go on to compete against winners of the other 130 Startup Weekends taking place globally as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW). Startup Weekend is a 54-hour business building marathon which brings together startup enthusiasts with technical and business skills to create technology based businesses. “Startup Weekends are a great way to highlight entrepreneurship and running them during GEW allows us to celebrate the global entrepreneurial community,” said Startup Weekend Regional Operations Manager Tawnee Rebhuhn. Startup Weekend Mobile Sydney marks the beginning of Global Entrepreneurship Week (12 - 17 November 2012) the world’s largest celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare. Startup Weekend Mobile Sydney took place 9-11 November at Fishburners co-working space. The runner up in the event was Re-food It, an app that suggests recipes based on the ingredients users already have in their house.
