Like other 160 plus countries of the world, Department of Entrepreneurship of Daffodil International University (DIU) is celebrating Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2017 in Bangladesh through 5 day-long program from 15-19 November 2017 which is supported by Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) Bangladesh
During “Entrepreneurs Meet” on November 18, 2017 at DIU, Mr Abdul Matlub Ahmed , President, India- Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industries ( IBCCI) was present as the chief guest at the program while Mr Nazrul Islam Khan, Former Education Secretary to the Government was present as the special guest.
Presided over by Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, BOT, DIU, the function was also addressed by Mr. Sohael Chowdhury, Country Director Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) Bangladesh, Professor Dr. S M Mahabubul Haque Majumder, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Mr. Abu Taher Khan, Director, Career Development Center (CDC) and Mr. Mohammad Shibli Shahriar, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Entrepreneurship. Distinguished entrepreneurs discussed the prospects and challenges of becoming an entrepreneur in front the interested audience.
Addressing as the chief guest Mr. Abdul Matlub Ahmad said after completion of higher education, if the graduates don’t get effective job, then young graduated obviously become frustrated. Nowadays the number of such frustrated graduates is increasing alarmingly in the country. The only solution of this problem is to become an entrepreneur. Rather seeking jobs, entrepreneurs can provide job opportunity for others. He urged the government and private organizations to come forward to develop infrastructure, ensuring easy loan process and creating business friendly environment.
He also mentioned there is no age limit to start a business. Anybody can start business in any period of age. But before starting a business one must have to set his goal. Three points should be considered as an entrepreneur. First of all you have to set up your mind, second focus on one enterprise last learn continuously with patriotism. In the mean time he gave an example from his own life and said after completing graduation from Oxford, he had great opportunity to join jobs like World Bank but ignoring all those opportunity he came back and be an prestigious entrepreneur and create thousands of jobs with 160 thousand vehicles in Bangladesh.
During presidential address Mr. Sabur Khan mentioned in Bangladesh lots of graduate does not have job opportunity. But entrepreneurship is the solution to create more jobs.
At some point Mr Sohael Chowdhury Mentioned to be an entrepreneur networking is very essential, for networking Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) is the right platform
